A Brisbane university student will face court today after being charged with the murder of her mother at their home at The Gap last week.

The 20-year-old woman raised the alarm with police last Friday, telling 000 she had found the bloodied body of her 56-year-old mother Radica Zafirovska in an upstairs bedroom.

After several interviews with detectives, she's now accused of violently bashing her mother to death with a piece of wood.

Police allegedly found a weapon in her bedroom and a plane ticket to Macedonia, where the family is originally from.

Detectives are looking at whether strict parenting may have been a motive for the attack, but they're still appealing for more info from the public.

"We want to make sure we've left no rock unturned," said Detective Acting Inspector David Farley.

"We're satisfied with the action but we certainly aren't close-minded to rule out any other information that might come forward."

If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
