Young Man Fighting For Life After Coward's Punch Attack On The Gold Coast
A 23-year-old Oxenford man is fighting for life in Gold Coast University hospital with a serious brain injury after an alleged coward's punch attack in Surfers Paradise.
Police say he was trying to break up a fight between two groups of men in Orchid Avenue about 3am on Friday morning, when he was attacked from behind, hitting his head on the ground.
"He was convulsing at the scene, ambulance officers transported him to hospital, he has a massive brain injury and his condition is listed as critical," said 9 News reporter Jess Millward.
The men involved in the fight fled the scene but were located by police at The Esplanade a short time later.
Two men, aged 27 and 29-years-old, are presently assisting police with their investigation.
It's believed the 29-year-old man is a German tourist.
